Daw Maw Maw, an English teacher at Basic Education High School No. 2 in Mingalardon, Yangon, has been honored with the prestigious 2025 Princess Maha Chakri Award for Outstanding Teachers.
With over 19 years of experience, Daw Maw Maw has spent her entire career at the school, beginning in 2010. She has been leading the PMCA Project there since she arrived.
This was her third time being nominated for the award, after previous attempts in 2019 and 2021. She described her joy at receiving an email in May notifying her of the win, emphasizing that the award is a recognition of the entire school’s efforts. The accompanying $10,000 prize will be used to support the children’s learning process.
The Princess Maha Chakri Award was established to honor the 60th birthday of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand and is presented every two years. The award includes a medal, a gold pin, a certificate, and the cash prize.
