68 Container Vessels Scheduled for Yangon Port in October

The Myanma Port Authority has announced that 68 container vessels are scheduled to arrive at Yangon Port in October 2025. This is part of a continued effort to manage rising import volumes for domestic needs and to support growing export activities.

The port has seen a steady increase in traffic throughout the year, with 62 vessels arriving in January, 53 in February, and an average of around 60 per month through September.

This growth follows the completion of a draft extension project on the Yangon River, which allows larger international vessels to access the inner port. In June 2022, the Hong Kong-based MV SITC Zhaoming became the largest ship to ever dock at the Asia World Port Terminal, marking a significant milestone for the port’s capacity.

With the improved navigation channel, the port is now better equipped to handle significant arrivals and support Myanmar’s maritime trade.
