Free Tents Provided for Pilgrims at Taungpula Pagoda in PyinOoLwin

Free tents are now available for pilgrims visiting Taungpula Pagoda in PyinOoLwin Township, allowing visitors to spend the night surrounded by nature. According to pagoda trustee member U Kyaw Soe, the initiative aims to accommodate the large number of visitors expected during the Thadingyut period and throughout the pilgrimage season.

Currently, around 60 tents have been set up, with space for approximately 80 people. These include both single-person tents and larger tents that can accommodate two to three people.

In addition to the tents, free meals—breakfast, lunch, and dinner—are provided daily to all visitors. The pagoda sees an increase in pilgrims on religious holidays and weekends, drawing visitors from Yangon, Mandalay, and nearby towns.

Perched atop a hill, Taungpula Pagoda also offers stunning views of the surrounding area, including pagodas, temples, and on clear mornings, a chance to see a sea of clouds.

Due to a rise in visitors during the 2022–2023 season, the pagoda trustees plan to expand the tent offerings if pilgrim numbers continue to grow this year.
