Myanmar and Belarus Strengthen Ties in Second Round of Diplomatic Talks

The second round of bilateral consultations between the foreign ministries of Myanmar and Belarus was held on October 3, 2025, in Minsk.

The meeting was co-chaired by U Ko Ko Kyaw, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Myanmar, and Mr. Sergey Lukashevich, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus.

Discussions focused on a wide range of topics to strengthen the partnership between the two nations. Officials exchanged views on Myanmar’s ongoing preparations for its upcoming general election and its progress in the peace process.

Both sides also explored opportunities for deeper collaboration across several sectors, including defence, security, education, science and technology, culture, sports, and tourism.

The consultations also covered regional and multilateral affairs, with talks on developments within ASEAN, the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), and BRICS. The delegations discussed ways to enhance cooperation under these international frameworks.

Following the talks, the Myanmar delegation was invited to a luncheon hosted by Mr. Lukashevich.
