More than 100 women from Myanmar have been approved to attend an overseas job training course and apply for their Overseas Worker Identification Card (OWIC) ahead of their employment in Japan, according to the Ministry of Labour.
The group of 101 female workers sought jobs in Japan through licensed overseas employment agencies. They are scheduled to attend the mandatory training course on October 2 and submit their OWIC applications on October 3. The ministry noted that workers who miss the scheduled dates will need to resubmit their applications.
The employing agencies are required to prepare and send a dispatch list, including the workers’ departure date, along with copies of their passports and OWICs, to the Department of Labour within one week of their departure.
