School-Based Vocational Training to Launch on September 1

The Department of Social Welfare is launching a new round of its popular domestic vocational training programme, with courses set to begin on 13 October.

The six-week training sessions will be held at the Department’s schools in ten major cities: Yangon, Mandalay, Mawlamyine, Pathein, Toungoo, Myitkyina, Pyapon, Sittway, Ywangan, and Dawei.

Participants can choose from a variety of practical courses, including sewing for women’s, children’s, and men’s clothing, as well as coats. The programme also offers classes in domestic handicrafts like crochet and embroidery, alongside baking, cooking, and floral design. All training will be conducted by domestic and foreign experts using hands-on, practical approaches.

The Department runs eight of these six-week batches every financial year. Additionally, schools in Yangon, Mandalay, Mawlamyine, and Pathein offer special weekend training sessions.
