Mesai Creek Flooding Submerges Tachilek Wards

Heavy rainfall in eastern Shan State’s Tachilek Township caused the Mesai Creek to rise over a foot above its danger level on the morning of October 1st, 2025. The resulting flood has inundated several wards located along the creek.

In response to the rising waters in Macao Kham ward, firefighters evacuated students from the Shwe Maha private high school. According to the Myanmar Fire Services Department, the rescue operation used three boats to move students to safety around 10:00 am.

This is not the first time the area has experienced such flooding. On July 27th, continual heavy rain also caused the creek to overflow, flooding wards including Talot, Ponhtun, Sensai, and Maekhong.
