Myanmar-Belarus Trade and Industry Forum

A Myanmar delegation, led by Union Minister Dr. Kan Zaw, recently concluded a visit to Minsk, Belarus, to strengthen trade and economic ties between the two nations. The trip centered on the second meeting of the Myanmar-Belarus Joint Committee on Trade and Economic Cooperation, held on October 2nd.

Co-chaired by Dr. Kan Zaw and Belarusian Foreign Minister Sergei Aleinik, the meeting focused on advancing agreements made during a previous leaders’ summit last March. Officials worked to finalize a roadmap for 2026-2028 cooperation and discussed expanding partnerships across several key sectors. These include industry, agriculture, health, banking, education, and tourism.

The delegation also participated in the International Industrial Exhibition “INNOPROM. Belarus.” During the trade fair, the group explored Belarusian industrial innovations, high-tech products, and modern machinery to identify potential opportunities for collaboration.

The visit included several high-level meetings. Minister Kan Zaw met with Belarus’s Health Minister to discuss cooperation in healthcare and pharmaceuticals, and with the Deputy Minister of Industry to talk about industrial and agricultural partnerships. The delegation toured key facilities, including a dairy products factory and a vehicle manufacturing plant, to observe production processes and discuss investment opportunities.

Separate working groups held specialized discussions. Officials from both countries’ agriculture ministries co-chaired their first joint working group meeting, focusing on research partnerships and technology exchange. Meanwhile, health representatives toured medical imaging and pharmaceutical plants, and central bank officials met to improve financial payment systems between the two countries. Business leaders also connected to explore new commercial opportunities.
