Outstanding Myanmar Educators Honored with Prestigious Princess Maha Chakri Award

Six teachers from Myanmar have been honored with the prestigious Princess Maha Chakri Award, recognizing their exceptional contributions to education. The award was announced during a press conference held at the Royal Thai Embassy in Yangon on September 29th.

The Princess Maha Chakri Award Foundation has expanded its reach, now presenting the biennial prize to outstanding educators in 14 countries, up from the previous 11. To date, 69 teachers worldwide have received this distinguished honor.

An official from the foundation explained that recipients are selected based on strict criteria, with the award given every two years. The 2025 award ceremony is scheduled for October 15th in Thailand and will be broadcast live on the PMCA Facebook and YouTube channels.

One past recipient, Ko Kyaw Zin Aung, who won the award in 2021, described the rigorous selection process, which involves multiple levels of screening, interviews, and project presentations.

A delegation from the foundation is currently in Myanmar for an annual visit, meeting with Education Ministry officials and visiting the schools of the award-winning teachers to better understand their needs.
