Starting October 1, 2025, the Myanmar Automated Cargo Clearance System (MACCS) will be mandatory for all import and export declarations on the Ranong-Yangon container shipping route. This shift to the automated system replaces the manual process that was previously in place.
The Customs Department announced the change in its notification 011/2025, dated September 29. The prior manual method, which was established to facilitate smoother border trade per a June 2024 notification, will now be phased out.
Declarants are required to submit all relevant information through the MACCS platform. For shipments using the Ranong-Yangon container system, special attention must be paid to entering specific codes:
- Station: A1
- Section: 11
- Mode of Transport: 1
- Loading/Unloading Location: Use MMRGN for Yangon and THRNN for Ranong.
