The 2025 Thadingyut Market Fair and Music Festival officially opened at Yangon’s People’s Square yesterday, marking the start of a vibrant four-day celebration.
Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein attended the opening ceremony, along with other regional officials, business leaders, and invited guests. In his opening speech, the Chief Minister highlighted the festival’s goals: to provide the public with access to affordable products, offer family-friendly entertainment, and showcase new and export-quality goods. He emphasized that the event supports the growth of local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through healthy competition.
Following the opening formalities, the Chief Minister presented a cash award to ethnic dance troupes and toured the various booths at the fair.
Running from October 4th to 7th, the festival is open daily from 8 AM to 10 PM. It features over 620 stalls offering a wide array of products from industrial zones, MSMEs, various government departments, and regional associations. Attendees can also enjoy a diverse selection of food stalls and restaurants.
The event will include food donations and live performances by well-known artists from the film, theatrical, and music industries. To help with transportation, shuttle bus services will be available for the public. The festival grounds will be adorned with beautiful floral arrangements, decorative lights, and a fireworks display, inviting everyone to join in the festive atmosphere.
