Hotel rooms at Ngwesaung Beach are filling up fast for the upcoming Thadingyut holiday, according to local residents and travel services.
The beach has seen a recent surge in visitors and is expected to be very crowded during the holiday period. A local resident noted that most hotels are already nearly fully booked starting from October 4th.
Popular attractions for visitors to the area include Snake Island, Lovers’ Island, an elephant camp, and the night market. Boat trips to nearby islands like Bird Island and Turtle Island are also available.
The Thadingyut holiday is a peak season for tourism across Myanmar. Along with Ngwesaung and Chaungthar, other destinations like Bagan, Popa, Mandalay, and Hpa-an are also anticipating a large influx of visitors. Many local tourists are also planning day trips to attractions around Yangon.
This follows a broader return of both domestic and international tourists that began in the last peak season.
