Yangon-Nay Pyi Taw DEMU Express

Starting October 9th, travelers between Yangon and Nay Pyi Taw will have a new express train option. Myanmar Railways has announced it is extending its DEMU express service to this popular route.

The new schedule will see the DEMU express depart from Yangon Central Railway Station at 12:00 PM, arriving in Nay Pyi Taw at 5:30 PM. For the return journey, the train will leave Nay Pyi Taw at 6:00 AM and arrive back in Yangon at 11:30 AM.

Two trains will operate on this schedule. Train No. 31 Up and No. 7 Up will depart from Yangon, while Train No. 32 Down and No. 8 Down will depart from Nay Pyi Taw.

Ticket prices for the journey are set at K19,000 for first class and K28,000 for upper class.

The DEMU carriages, first introduced on the route in late February, have become a favorite among passengers for their comfort and reliable on-time performance.
